DIY Halloween LED Skull Decoration
Boooo! Welcome to my DIY tutorial on how to make a skull with light up eyes for a Halloween Decoration.
Tools and Materials
Parts:
Flashing LED kit ($3 at frys.com)
Breadboard Jumper Wires ($5 for 40 at amazon.com)
Coin Button Cell Battery Holder ($4.50 for 3 at amazon.com)
Lithium 2032 Coin Batteries ($13.40 for 20 at amazon.com)
Equipment:
Solder Iron ($8 on amazon.com)
Solder ($4 on amazon.com)
Wire Cutters ($6 on amazon.com)
Safety Goggles ($2.50 on amazon)
Total Cost: Your project should not cost more than $30 (P.S. I listed all the parts in bulk)
Completing the PCB
Using solder and your solder gun, attach all the parts within the Flashing Led Kit into the corresponding holes on the printed circuit board in order to complete the PCB.
Adding the Umph! (lights and Battery)
In this step you will solder down the LED lights. Also add 2 Lithium Coin Batteries to the Cell Battery Holder and solder it down to the PCB as well.
Making It Happen
Take your hollow skull and cut a hole in the bottom so you can stuff/hide all the components within the object. Make sure that you poke holes in the eyes to put the LED's through. Also make sure you can still access the on/off switch on the battery with ease. I put all my components in a box which was glued under the skull to allow for easy access, but you don't have to do what I did; simply stuffing it in the skull is just fine.
