Hello people!

Today I have another upcycling idea for you. This time's random material is.... *drumroll* a juice box! Yes, another item you would normally throw away.

What I mean specifically are those cartons for drinks that have an aluminium layer inside. They are easy to cut and you can make faux metal pendants out of them! So the project works well for kids too.

Let's get craftin'!

*Btw, you can also watch the video, which I tried to make entertaining ;) *

Please vote for me in the homemade gift contest, would be amazing! Cheerio! :)

What You Will Need

* a juice box of any size that's metallic inside (empty and rinsed out)

* any pair of scissors (or utility knife)

* a marker or a pen

* a map tack

* nail polish or acrylic paint

* a jump ring

* a necklace cord or chain

Cut Open Your Box

So first of all you need to cut open your box. Actually I didn't do this the smartest way. it's better not to flatten it out if you want to get more material without any creases. but this method works fine too.

The best way is probably to cut it using a utility knife.

When you're done you have a metallic surface that you can work with!

Cut Out a Shape

Next I made a paper template of the shape that I want my pendant to have. This can be any shape that is easy to cut out.

Find a smooth area and put the template on the backside.

Next trace the shape onto the box. In this case it doesn't matter but be aware that the template needs to be mirrored!

Then just cut out the shape. I rounded the corners a bit as well.

Poke a Hole

Next it's time to punch a hole.

For this just take a map tack and place your pendant on a stack of newspaper or a magazine and press the needle through.

I used my fingers to carefully push the needle all the way through, but make sure not to hurt yourself or bend the pendant ;)

Paint the Backside (optionally: Add Lines)

The backside still didn't look so great, so I painted it.

I used some tape to secure the pendant on the newspaper and painted with nail polish, but you can use acrylic paint as well. I prefer nail polish though because of the smooth finish. I applied two coats.

You can paint on the frontside as well - for example I made the lines on the diamond using a tooth pic and white acrylic paint mixed with water. In this case I used acrylic paint cause it's easier to correct and apply in thin lines.

Assemble!

So now we're pretty much done, we just need to attach a jumpring and necklace cord!

Btw, I made my jumpring out of wire and let the ends overlap, because the pendant is quite thin. But it might not be necessary.

And now you're done!

Of course this jewelry is not the most durable except that it's waterproof, but it's quick and fun to make and you can attach it to something stronger if you want.

As I mentioned, I think this would be a great project for kids as well since it's so simple and cheap to make.

So I hope you like this idea and are inspired to craft with whatever you have lying around!

Keep crafting :)
