DIY Jumping Origami Frog
Create a cute, fun jumping origami frog using only your hands and a piece of paper. Perfect for craft night, school activities, or just for fun!
Supplies
- Origami paper or regular paper cut into a square shape
Fold Your Square
Using your square piece of paper, fold it diagonally in each direction so you have lines crossing each other forming an "X" shape on your square.
Triangular Fold
Rotate the paper so it is in a diamond shape with a point facing you. Pinch in the sides until you form a perfect triangle.
Fold in Smaller Triangles
Fold in each side of the triangle to form two smaller triangles and crease the fold.
Fold in the Diamond Sides
Your paper should have a smaller diamond shape on top of the triangle. Fold in the right and left edge of the diamond until you have a paper airplane-like shape on top of your triangle.
Make the Front Legs
Starting from the inside, fold the inner sides of the diamond outward lining them up with the edge of the diamond.
Make the Back Legs
Flip the paper over so the triangular side is facing upward with the long edge facing you. Fold in each side until each edge meets at the center creating another diamond shape.
Fold the Inner Corner Outward
Starting from the center, fold each side of the diamond outward so it aligns with the outer edge.
Finishing Touches
Flip your frog over and fold it in half so that the legs remain underneath your frog.
Finish the Frog's Back Legs
Using your recently folded side, fold it in half again this time folding in the direction you are sitting. This final fold will help with making the frog jump!
Put Your Frog's Jumping Skills to the Test!
Flip your frog over and press down on the back legs to make it give a little hop! Feel free to embellish your frog with googly eyes or drawing eyes on it using markers. Enjoy!
