Here's what you're going to need to make this project:

CUT IT OUT

Take your Coral stencil print and cut out the shape using scissors.

IT’S a TRACE!

Trace the stencil print onto your 12X36 pine board using a pencil.

GET’N JIGGY WITH IT

Make holes at the inside curves using a 3/8th drill bit.

Using your Jig Saw, carefully cut out your stenciled design. Don’t worry about rough edges, all this can be fixed later using your sander.

MAP IT OUT

Now it’s time to map out where you want your lights to go. You’ll want to make sure not to mark too close to the edge so that you don’t split the wood when you’re drilling. Try to mark about 1 inch from the edge as a safeguard.

IT’S a HOLE THING

Once you’re happy with the marks, fasten your board to your table using a clamp and a scrap piece of wood underneath. The scrap wood will help avoid unnecessary blow out from the wood. You’ll want the good side of your board facing down.

Take your small ⅛ drill bit and drill all the holes. Once your holes are completed, take your larger 7/32 drill bit and drill the holes through again. This way, it’s clean and large enough to fit your lights.

SAND AWAY!

Time to Sand! Sand your entire project to your liking. This is a part to have fun, round off edges etc. The goal of the sanding is to leave your project feeling nice a smooth.

ADD COLOUR TO YOUR LIFE

Colour Time! I opting to keep some of the wood grain in my project, so i’m using a coloured stain with painted accents on top. Let Dry.

You could opt to add a finish on your piece to ensure it can handle a bit of day to day scuffs. This is completely optional.

LIGHT UP YOUR LIFE

Add your string lights and use a glue gun in the back to hold your lights in place and all the excess cords in place.

IT’S ALIVE, IT’S ALIVE!
