DIY Mermaid Fascinator

IMG_0162.JPG
I'm a huge fan on The Little Mermaid and have seen so many gorgeous weddings themed around it. I wondered what I'd wear if I got married at an Ariel themed wedding and thus, this was created!

Materials

To make this fascinator you'll need:

A hot glue gun
White paint
Small shells
Pearls
A fork
Wax paper
Rhinestones
Green tulle
Hair comb

You can get all these supplies at your local craft store and grocery store. This cost me <$2 to make and took about 30 minutes.

Make and Paint Coral

I Googled "coral fan" and used my glue gun to draw the shape I wanted on wax paper.

After the glue cooled, I ran the coral under water to peel off the wax paper. Not all of it came off, but I wan't too worried about that since I was going to paint it anyways.

I dried the coral and then painted in in an off white color.

Decorate

I created a fan like shape out of the tulle and glued the coral onto it. After that I glued the fork on top of the coral. Then I glued on small shells, plastic rhinestones, and the hair comb.

Finally, I sewed a string of pearls onto the edge of the fascinator in a scalloped pattern.

ENJOY!

Now you can swim around the house singing "Part of your world" and proudly wearing your dinglehopper in your hair!

I used bobby pins to anchor the comb and top of the tulle to my head for stability.
