Season after season, the holidays sneak up on me. Except this year.
Perhaps motherhood should take credit but this year I’ve been determined to beat the holidays to the punch. Crafting is one of the things I love most about this time of year and since Thanksgiving weekend gives all of us that perfect amount of downtime before the madness of December encroaches, I though I’d help jumpstart your holiday crafting as well. These doll ornaments, made of old fashioned clothespins, has been something I’ve been dying to make ever since I spotted them at Anthropologie last year. Not only are they super adorable, with their cozy scarves and colorful ensembles, these dolls are ridiculously fun to make – especially with friends!

You’ll need:

Start by drawing the face with the tip of a toothpick.

Using a Dremel or drill, drill a hole through the upper half of the clothespin – perpendicular to the “legs.”

Tape Off the Upper Portion of the Clothespin With Painter’s Tape.

Using wire clippers, snip off 2.5 inches of paper wrapped wire. Thread
it through the drilled hole and paint it the same color as the top. Remember to keep the “hands” unpainted! Allow to dry completely and then fold the arms down to the sides.

Take a 1/4″ x 6″ piece of scrap fabric and wrap it around the doll’s shoulders and neck.

Keep it place with a drop of hot glue.

Trim the ends. With a 1/16″ drill bit, drill a small hole into the top of the clothespin.

Screw the eye into the top.
