This is a super easy, cheap way of making a party horn, or flute!

Find a Clean Drinking Straw

flatten one end of the straw using your fingers (or teeth if this is only for yourself)

Time to Cut

use a pair of scissors (kids- get an adults help) to trim the end of the straw to a point, resembling tweezers.

Adjustment

If the point is to long to place your mouth over comfortably, you can trim the tip off.

Time for Air

place your mouth over the cut part and press your lips firmly, but loose enough to let air through. Blow. If no air can get through, you're pinching your lips together too tight.

Optional Sound Adjustment

These extra steps aren't necessary, but if you'd like a different sound, (higher or lower, or even multi-noted like a flute or recorder) follow these steps

Higher Pitch

The shorter you trim the flat end of the straw, the higher the pitch of the sound.

Enjoy!

cut a little notch out of the main body of your straw to produce an entirely new note when you place a finger over the opening.

Enjoy!
