DIY Phone Ring(3d Design)
Hello Everyone. Today I'm going to be showing you how to 3d design a Phone Ring. Phone rings can be very helpful when using your phone. Thye keeps it from falling out of your hands. But online they can be quite expensive. So i decided to 3d design my own. And I have made a tutorial video on how.
Supplies
All you need to make it is Tinkercad or any 3d designing software. I however am using Tinkercad. And if you want to 3d Print this then you'll need a 3d printer, obviously.
Intro
So first, go to https://www.tinkercad.com and create a new Design. It will automatically save it and name it. Dont worry bout the name. It's no important. Then Check If everythingis working.
First Step: Baseplate
First, we'll start with the baseplate. Drag a square into your space and click it. Then Adjust the sizing of the square. The exact adjustments are 30mm by 40mm, and the width is 3.56mm. Then Duplicate the square and change it to the hole format. Then change the size of the square to 26mm by 36mm and the width to 1.46mm. Then Slide it into the Other square. Make sure that the small hole square doesn't hollow out the larger square. Align it so that one side goes in. Then left-click and drag to select both squares. And click the group button or Ctrl+G. This will make them one object. To make the baseplate more appealing you want to change the radius to 2.18. This will make it smoother. Then move the object to the side and lock it so that you don't accidentally mess with it while working on the other parts.
Step 2: Ring
Next, we going to create the Ring. First, take a Ring from the Shapes side and drag it to the grid. Then make it 20mm by 20mm. Then Drag a square from the shapes bar. Adjust it in size and drag it into the ring. Make it a hole and adjust it evenly. Then group them so that it gets rid of that side of the ring. Then drag out another square out. Make it 5mm by 6mm. And give it a width of 1mm. Then give it a radius of 5.17. Then duplicate it and take both of them and put attach them to the open ends of the ring. Then get another square and make it 6mm by 10mm and attach it to the 2 squares on the ring. Now to make the ring be able to move we have to make a whole in the squares so that you can fit a metal rod in there to be able to move the ring up and down. It's very simple. Get a cylinder and make it 1mm by 21mm. And make it as long as you want. At least long enough to fit in all three squares. To make it even just adjust the movement by 0.5mm every time. Once the cylinder is in place. Select all the parts and group them together. Then you have your ring.
Printing Process
If you want to print these parts. Feel free to do so. Be careful and make sure you print the parts separate and not linked together. And when done printing sand the parts and make sure to use 3m tape to your phone or case. Here is the download link for the Parts:

Timelapse Video
Here is some uncut footage of me designing it. I was changing some sizes throughout. But the final size increments are the ones I ended on.
