DIY Plant Cell

Today, We will be making a DIY Plant Cell. The materials you will need are listed below.
Spearmint Leaves (CANDY)
Funstix (CANDY)
Rectangular Styrofoam
Dark and Light green paint
Hot glue
Hot glue gun
Paper

First, we are going to start off by putting our styrofoam on a flat surface protected by a bag to avoid mess. Next we can start with the outline. Get your Dark Green paint and make an outline about 2cm on every side of the styrofoam.

For this step, take out your light green paint and your brush. You want to paint the inner part of the dark green outline using your light green paint.

After your light green paint has dried, take out your blue "funstix". We are going to use the funstix to represent the golgi apparatus. Cut each one into 3 cm pieces and spread them out like so. Once you have your Golgi Apparatus planned out, we can now hot glue it down to the styrofoam

For this step, you are going to need to get out your paper and scissors. Make an outline as close to mine as you can get. Note: size of the central vacuole may vary depending on the size of your styrofoam. Because it is the central vacuole, get your light blue or dark blue paint and cover one side of the central vacuole (the painted side is going to be upwards).

For our next step we will be drawing and cutting out our nucleus. Much like the golgi apparatus, the size may vary depending on the size of your styrofoam. You should color this in with a super light green or yellow. Next you want to plan out the nucleus's location on the styrofoam (relatively close to the top left) but make sure you make room for the smooth endoplasmic reticulum.

For the smooth endoplasmic reticulum, you want to cut the funstix each at 3cm in length and spread them underneath the nucleus much like the golgi apparatus. I used the 3 3cm funstix that I had cut and planned them out in the picture above. Next you want to glue the funstix dont unplug your glue gun as the next step requires it aswell.

Next you want to plan out where you want to place the spearmint candies and after you have that plotted, hot glue them onto the styrofoam.

For the central vacuole add-on, we are going to put some dark blue whale candy ontop of it for more texture and a better colour.
