Below are recipes for sick day, calming, and uplifting playdough recipes. These are perfect for those rainy or sick days or when you want to calm active children but still keep them busy. These recipes truly only take 5 minutes or less to make using ingredients in your kitchen! No cooking required :)
To make your own playdough mix: (double up the recipe for more playdough)
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1 tablespoon melted coconut oil
1 tablespoon cream of tartar (found in the spice section)
3/4 cup boiling water
Once it is cooled a little, mix in the essential oils. We only use 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils in our house. This is important if children are handling the playdough.

For uplifting playdough, add a few drops of Joy essential oil. Read more about Joy below.
Thieves is an essential oil blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus, and rosemary. I love the aroma and it supports the immune system. It is truly my favorite essential oil.
Lavender essential oil is calming and promotes restful sleep. The smell is wonderful too! It is very versatile and gentle with many benefits and uses.
Joy is an exotic essential oil blend of 10 different oils! They include bergamot, ylang ylang, geranium, rosewood, lemon, mandarin, jasmine, roman chamomile, palmarose and rose. This oil promotes emotional well-being and alleviates that feeling of being blue as well as stress and tensions. The flowery, romantic smell is amazing!
Note - These essential oils are Young Living oils. Other brands may differ in purity, potency and uses/precautions.
The playdough should keep for months in an airtight container.
