DIY Portable Whiteboard

A complete guide to making a portable whiteboard that you can take with you anywhere. It looks great even when the whiteboard is not being used. You can also order one at www.sketchcase.com

I'm using a 15-inch MacBook case ($18) and a 45cm x 200cm Whiteboard Sticker ($13) from Amazon. The measurements of the Macbook case is 36.1cm x 25.1cm.

I decided to cut the whiteboard into 35cm x 24cm to make a black border around the whiteboard.

Paper trimmers are available for free in major print shops. I'm using one from Staples.

Make sure to trim the edges to your exact measurements. As you can see in the picture, the factory cut is off by around 2mm.

The whiteboard sticker is now ready to be applied but first, let's make the corners round to match the Macbook case.

Trace the corners with a pencil using the MacBook case.

Carefully cut corners along the traced lines using a pair of scissors.

Get a plastic card and a dust cloth to remove the air bubbles without damaging the whiteboard.

Align and apply the whiteboard sticker starting with one edge. The sticker is not permanent so don't worry too much about getting it perfect.

Wrap the dust cloth around the plastic card and remove all of the air bubbles. If the whiteboard is not aligned correctly, careful remove and reapply.
