We love doughnut holes and thought this would be a nice addition to any home for the holiday season. This is a great way to have a dual item for decoration and to hold food. We created a cardboard version and then a final product made out of plastic fiberglass of a Pumpkin décor item to hold doughnut holes.

Supplies

  • CAD software (to draw/sketch the design & to input into the laser engraver)
  • Cardboard (to create a mock version)
  • Glue (for cardboard version to hold together)
  • Plastic fiberglass: Black and Orange (for the final version)
  • Laser engraver

Create Design in CAD

First you need to create your design in your CAD software. We chose a 5 tiered design to hold the doughnut holes. The front of the decor item had 3 different pumpkin face designs.

Cut Out Design With Laser Engraver

We first had the laser engraver cut out the cardboard version. This picture is when we were ready for the final product and using the laser engraver on the plastic fiberglass. See the video below of it being cut with plastic fiberglass.

Put It All Together

For the cardboard we needed glue to keep it together. These are the final products. We think they turned out great! Now it's time to place the doughnut holes on the shelves, although we know the doughnuts won't stay there for too long! Trick or Treat!
