DIY Seashell Candle

Whether you're obsessed with mermaids, like me, have a nautical theme to some part of your house, or just feel like making a cool candle, this is the tutorial for you!

For this tutorial you will need.

-A blow dryer

- Tea light candles (I used two)

- A large seashell

- A spoon (not pictured)

I got the candles from the Dollar Tree and found the seashell at a thrift store, but you can find them at Michael's as well. This took me about 20 minutes to make and cost about $2.00.

Take the candles out of the metal tins.

Remove the wicks from the candles

Break up the candles into small pieces. The smaller you're able to make them, the faster they will melt. For this tutorial, I used two tea lights so the wick would still be able to stick out of the wax once it was reformed.

Put the blow dryer on the hottest heat setting and the lowest air setting. If you set the air to high, it will blow the wax all around and make it splatter. After the wax started to melt (first photo) I used the back of a spoon to crush the chunks even more and smooth the wax out a bit (second photo).

After smooshing and smoothing, heat the wax a bit more by the blow dryer until the wax is all one semi-solid piece. Use your finger to make a hole in the soft wax and insert one of the wicks. You need to do this fairly quickly, which is why there are no photos of this step. "Bury" the base of the wick and reheat the wax so it fills in the hole around the wick.

Ask yourself "What's a fire and why does it, what's the word? Buuuuuurn?", light up your candle, and enjoy the paradox of fire in a shell.
