DIY Simple Mermaid Shell Crown

Here's another shell crown tutorial that's a little simpler and that has more common materials.

For this instructable you will need

-Glue gun

-Glitter "seaweed" (easy to find at Michael's but only during the holidays)

-Metal headband

-Seashells

- Plastic pearl string (optional)

- Plastic rhinestones (optional)

These take about 10 minutes to make and cost about $5.00-$10.00 depending on what you have on hand. All the materials can be found at your local craft store.

Pick the shells you want and lay them out in the order you want. This makes things a lot quicker which is important when working with hot glue.

Now I'm not here to tell you how to live your life, so go ahead and just glue these babies on!

I suggest putting enough glue for one shell at a time and waiting for the glue to set before gluing on the next shell.

I chose three medium shells for the center of the crown and smaller shells for the rest of the crown. I also used smaller shells to fill in the exposed headband between the shells.

I had this great pearl garland thing I found at a thrift store so I put a dot of glue on the crown, glue a piece down, and looped the string up to the next point I wanted it attached on the crown and glued it down again. It makes it kind of fun to look at, but it's not necessary for this crown to look fabulous.

The seaweed comes on a branch, so I cut off each little section and set them out so I could glue them on easily. I added the seaweed in between shells to add a bit more pop. The crowns definitely aren't as pretty without this, so I strongly suggest you get you some.

I kept it low hey on this one with just two pearls and two rhinestones. You can also add pearls and rhinestones in any other gaps on your crown. The great thing about this looking so natural is that it doesn't have to be perfectly symmetrical.
