Make a mute for your tenor trombone for only dollars.

Thanks to bonesmarsh on the trombone forum for the idea.

You'll need:

  • scissors
  • 1-quart international delight coffee creamer bottle
  • shelf paper
  • duct tape or similar
  • ruler
  • hammer
  • nail

Step 1

Buy an International Delight coffee creamer bottle. Once you empty or use the contents, take off the cap and wrapper.

Step 2

Cut a 7 x 3.25 rectangle of shelf paper.

Step 3

Fold the shelf paper into a strip that is about an inch wide.

Step 4

Wrap the strip of shelf paper tightly around the top of the bottle and secure it with tape.

Step 5

Using a hammer and nail, punch 2 holes in the side of the mute. These holes will let air out.

Step 6

Place your mute in the bell of your trombone and play!

Add more shelf paper and increase the size of the holes if you want to.
