DIY Track Dolly

DIY Track Dolly

Tools:
  • Drill
  • Table Saw
  • Hole Saw
  • Drill and 1/2" Bit
Materials:
  • 1 1/4” diameter 10 ft PVC pipe (2X)
  • 1 1/4” diameter PVC elbows (4X)
  • Plywood - close to size of tripod
  • 2 X 4 (30" long)
  • 1 1/4” wood screws (6X)
  • Paracord or rope (20 ft)
  • Glue (optional)
  • Furniture sliders (optional)

Cut each 10 ft PVC pipe into 2 pieces: 8 ft and 2 ft

PVC can now be assembled

Cut holes in 2x4 with hole saw along center line to match spacing of PVC tracks

Cut 2x4 along center line to make two rails

Cut plywood to match tripod size

Mount the plywood onto 2x4's using the wood screws

Drill a hole in the center of one of the sides for the rope

Tie rope to the hole

Drill another hole through the center of one of the 2 ft sides. Feed the rope through the hole.

(Optional) attach furniture sliders to potentially smooth the camera motion
