DIY Ursula Shell Necklace (The Little Mermaid)
This is a really basic Instructable. I basically wanted to share the way that I make natural shells into pendants without needing to drill holes into them. I thought, "Why not make another movie prop while I'm at it?"
So here it is!
So here it is!
Materials
To make an Ursula necklace you'll need:
A hot glue gun
Floral wire
A shell
Pliers
Black cord
Metallic gold spray paint
This project will take about 15 minutes and cost $5-$10 depending on the materials you have on hand.

Spray Paint the Shell
This might seem like a "duh" step, but I wanted to put it in here just to point out a few things.
First, I spray painted over the top of the shells. Then, I flipped them over so I could spray paint the bottom and inside of the shells. After that, I inspected the other parts of the shell and had to touch it up in a few places. Make sure you check the whole shell, especially if it's porous like mine.

Create and Secure the Loops
Cut a piece of wire about 1.5-2 inches long. Twist the ends of the wire together and then bend them a little bit so it will fit flush with the side of the shell. Basically, if you keep the ends straight, there will be a gap between the shell and the wire loop.
Put a glob of glue a but deep into the shell and place the loop on it. The reason I say put it deep into the shell is because then you won't see it protruding, you'll just seen the cord.

Attach to the Cord
I like to fold my cord in half, put it through the wire loop, then putting the ends of the cord through the loop created by folding the cord in half. Then I tie the ends of the cord together.
ENJOY!
