DIY Vintage Holiday Fascinator

For this gorgeous DIY, I’m going to show you how I made this fun little holiday fascinator. Originally I was inspired to create this fascinator for New Year's Eve, but it works equally well as part of a vintage costume for Halloween or another fancy dress party! Have fun with it - use black netting instead of white or another color, mix up the ribbon or use flowers instead - the possibilities are endless. Let's begin!

You'll need:

• A roll of tulle or netting, 6-7" wide
• Hot glue gun
• Gold ribbon
• White thread and a sewing needle
• Scissors
• A stiffened doily- soak a doily in Mod Podge or wood glue and let dry on plastic wrap.
• Strong bobby pin or clip

Cut an 18 to 24″ length of netting. With the needle and thread, sew a running stitch about a 1/2 inch in along the long edge of the netting. Pull the thread tight to cinch, and tie off.

You should have almost a complete 'circle' of netting after cinching. Holding the gathered center of the netting to the center of the doily, hot glue together, pressing firmly to seal.

Cut a length of ribbon and tie a neat bow. Hot glue the bow to the center of the netting, pressing firmly.

Choose from a strong bobby pin, alligator clip, or barrette and hot glue to the bottom of the doily. Tip: Cut a length of felt, hot glue to the bottom of the doily, and hot glue the hair accessory to the felt. This is a trick I learned after having some difficulty keeping the accessory attached to the doily.
