Hello everyone welcome to my first instructable. This instructable will show you a cool way to take a regular Santa hat and install lights that can be found at any local Walmart or other outlets. Please enjoy and give me some feedback. Also sorry about not taking that much photos didn't think of it at the time but learned my lesson.

What You Need....

First you want to buy everything and here is the list.
1. Santa hat - Now you can get these anywhere for around 2 dollars are less. I found this one at dollar general for $1.50 - now you can go even more with the hat it just depends on you.
2. 18 count lights I got mine at Walmart for $3.50 and they run off of 3 AA'S.
3. Duratrax® NiMH 7.2V 1600mAh Stick Pack - we will come back to this later but it's way better then using AA's plus it's rechargeable! (option)

Starting to Come Together......

Now you want to take some foam or newspaper and stuff it inside the hat to fill it out. Trust me this makes wrapping the lights around a lot easier. I started at the top of the hat and wrapped my way down. You want to glue the lights on the seam to make it look better. So every seam wrap around to secure the wire with a little hot glue and it's good. Now when you get to the bottom you want wrap it around the edge of the hat and make sure it ends in the back.

Finishing Up!

After you get all that done just solder three AA'S in or the option is to use a rechargeable battery. Go buy a Duratrax® NiMH 7.2V 1600mAh Stick Pack or something comparable and cut it down the middle straight down. Take the positive side and solder a negative wire to the bottom of the battery. Heat shrink it or tape it back together in a stick. Solder your connecter of choice and then solder that same type of connecter to your lights and your done. Now you can go from here and do whatever to it. Hope you enjoyed!
