Stacking the Beads
Headpins are used so you can stack beads and have a neat finish. 24 gauge antique brass finished headpins were used with a ball tip. The heart shaped focal bead was stacked first, resting on the ball ending. The Swarovski crystal and the Toho seed bead followed. The stacked beads are ready for to be closed with a loop.
Make the Closing Loop
Bend the headpin about 1/8" (3mm) above the top bead. Using round needle-nose pliers make the bend slightly over 90 degrees. Reposition the wire in the pliers and wrap the wire around the pliers to create an eyelet. Wrap/coil the remaining wire around the 1/8" piece of exposed wire (picture 3).
Cut the Excess Wire
Using wire cutters, cut off the excess wire from the headpin.
Connect the Heart to the Earwire
Take the hook earwire and with the needle nose pliers open up the eyelet. Slide the assembled heart dangle onto the eyelet and with pliers tighten it up again. Repeat the steps for the second earring. The earrings are ready to wear.
