Dandelion Centerpiece/Decoration
Learn how to make a fun little dandelion flower to use as decoration at a party or in your room.
"Some see a weed, I see a wish."
Supplies
You will need
- White craft small feather boa
- Glass gems
- Small glass or vase
- Green Pipe Cleaner/Chenille
- Green Paper
- Small styrofoam balls
- Hot Glue Gun
- Hot Glue
- Scissors
Prep the Flower
Poke a tiny hole in the styrofoam ball carefully with the sharp point of a pair of scissors.
Add a glob on a 5" - 6" piece of green pipe cleaner. Insert the pipe cleaner into the ball before the glue sets.
Adding Fluff
Cut a 3" piece of the craft boa. To start adding the boa, put a dot of hot glue at the base of the syrofoam ball. Try to make contact with the cording that is inside the boa. Use a pencil to hold in place to prevent burning yourself.
Go upwards and slightly diagonally dabbing a dot of hot glue and holding in the position you want it. Continue this in a spiral pattern all the way to the top of the ball. To finish off the pouf ball, add one final dot of glue at the top and make sure the cording comes in contact with the glue. To get a clean spot on the ball just blow the feathers aside to add the glue first.
Leaves
Cut two leaves out of green construction paper and glue them onto the pipe cleaner.
Stagger their placement and try to keep them near the bottom of the stem.
Finishing Up
Remove any hot glue strings that have formed.
Pour glass gems in your vase and gently push the stem in until it has a good hold with the gems surrounding it.
An alternative idea is to use black and white twisted pipe cleaners, skip the leaves and use bright colored boa feathers to have a Lorax themed centerpiece. :)
