Candle Holder From Aluminum Can Tabs
We are all into Recyling, right? This project recycles beer can tabs into a candle holder. The candle casts a nice light and creates an artistic shadow projected to surrounding walls.
Supplies
Lots of aluminum can tabs - start collecting them.
1-mm copper wire
Candle
Bending the Tabs
Using a pair of pliers, bend the middle on each of the tabs a few degrees.
Snip the Top
At the top of each tab make one cut with a pair of wire snips.
Join 3 Together, Then Add More
Join 3 tabs together by clipping the top of two tabs into the bottom of a tab. Add another tab to the bottom of these two tabs so a small diamond is formed. On one side use two of the tabs to create another diamond shape by adding two more tabs. The tabs should lie flat. If they don't you have clip in a tab the wrong way, just remove it and clip it in the other way.
Keep Adding Tabs
Keep adding more tabs to create a larger diamond shape, from here tabs can be added to create a rectangular shape to build on.
Attach to Stubbie Holder
Add more tabs to create a rectangular shape 25 cm long by 12 cm wide.
Copper Frame
Created a frame to hang the beer-tab net on. I made a frame from 1-mm copper wire which was 10 cm in diameter by 12 cm tall. Attach the rectangle net of tabs to the frame and you are good to go.
Stubby Holder Cover
On another project, beer can tabs were used to create a cover for a beer can stubby holder. It is sure to be commented on over a few beers at a BBQ with friends.
