Decorative Ornament Cage

For my entry in 3D Printed Ornament Challenge I wanted to build off of a christmas decoration that most of us already own dozens of, glass ball ornaments. To make the ornament cage easy to print, I designed it in two halves that easily slide together and then swivel closed around the ornament.

My biggest hope is that this design will be used as a basis for more ornament cage designs. Due to the short time allowed for this contest, I only made one pattern, candy cane stripes, but I already have a couple more patterns in mind. If you have a couple ideas yourself, run with it. I'd love to see what y'all come up with.

Further Steps:

Looking at the first picture of this section, you can see that the cage looks pretty neat on its own. To show off the effect of seeing both sides at once, you could do one of two things.

1. Use a clear ornament
2. Remove the top of an ornament and use it to suspend the cage by itself.
