Recently, I took a trip to the Umbria region of Italy. This truly was the trip of a life time! On one of the days we had the chance to learn how to paint a dish while visiting one of the fine ceramic shops in Deruta. What a perfect momento of the perfect trip! A plate that I hand painted myself!!

SUPPLIES

All supplies were provided and already set up at our individual stations. Supplies included the unpainted plate with the faint outline of the design already on the plate. Also included were the paint colors we each chose (in powder form), brushes of varying thicknesses, sponges, water and a fine "knife" to scrape off any "mistakes".

Before using any color, you must first create the outlines using black paint....... first decorative line followed closely by the second parallel line.....

START PAINTING....

The colors I chose to match my home decor: bright yellow, red, green and black to outline each individual space (see pictures). This is the shade of yellow I used (it will look much brighter once fired).

NEXT COLOR......

is a deeper shade of yellow....

STILL WORKING WITH YELLOW.....
