Decorative Wall Clock - 3D Printed
There are a tons of wall clocks available in the market. But hanging our own design on the wall is a different experience. So, started creating a simple yet elegant wall clock at home.
Supplies
PLA Filament
Oil Colors
Clock machine
Designing on TinkerCad
Tinkercad is a great modelling tool for 3d printing. It is simple and powerful to express our ideas. This clock is entirely designed on Tinkercard.
3D Printing
I am using CR 10s 3d printer. It is a 30 x 30 cm bed printer. Since the entire model cannot fit to print at once, I have to make it into four parts.
Preparing the Frame
All these parts fit together without the need for glue or screws. The bottom and top plates will bind the four parts of the frame and finally looks as it is a single piece.
Preparing the Clock Holder
The front plate (top two images) and the backplate (bottom image) sandwich holding the frame in the holes and legs. All these parts fit precisely, so no need to glue them. The hole in the centre can hold a standard size clock machine available in the market.
Coloring
My initial plan is to fill the frame with solid colours. But due to coronavirus lockdown, I could not order colours online. So I used nail polish colours just on the numbers and clock hands.
Final Look
This is the final look. Joints are hard to find. No extra sound from the frame when the clock ticks.
