Design for Change, Making a Car Out of Popsicle Sticks.

Design thinking is going through the process of creativity to get a different point of view on a problem. Design thinking is important when designing because it lets you get a whole new perspective and allows you to solve a problem with your own creativity.

The materials I used were 50 wooden popsicle sticks, bottle caps, a glue gun, and tape. The first thing I had to do in order to create a car is to make the base, I made the base by cutting 2 popsicle sticks in half to go in the inner frame and glued 2 normal sized popsicle sticks on top of the 2 popsicle sticks I cut earlier making my base.

To make the wheels of my popsicle car I needed to use 2 cylinder-shaped popsicle sticks because the normal ones would be to thin to be able to use and properly stick to the bottle caps, I glued 2 bottle caps to both sticks, one on each side. I then cut 4 popsicle sticks in half giving me 8 little pieces to use to maintain the wheels in place so they don't move all over the place when the car moves. I glued 2 on each side beside the wheels, the wheels would be in the middle of both cut pieces on each side. I'd then continue to glue the other 4 remaining cut sticks on top to prevent them from moving out of place later on.

The last step which was the easiest is to build the roof and the short walls, I started out by building pillars out of tiny pieces of popsicle sticks and I stacked them to be 6 in total I created a total of 4 of those, 2 on each side to be able to glue the popsicle sticks to create the doors, later on, the next step would be to simply cut 1/4 of 4 popsicle sticks to create the walls and glue them to the platforms. The last step would be to create 4 tall pillars in order to be able to do the roof. I cut 4 popsicle sticks in half and glued them beside the stacked pillars so they'd gain balance, I then continued to glue 4 sticks across the pillars to create a base for the roof, the same base I created in Step 1. I then cut 4 popsicle sticks in half and glued them across to finally complete my car

In Conclusion, I had a lot of fun creating this car out of Popsicle sticks. This was the first thing I ever created by hand and I am surprised and proud of myself by the outcome, I took me a while to make due to things breaking and the glue gun being unable to work. I learned a lot from this experience and I hope to be able to create something else in the future.
