Destiny Inspired Painting

So as you can see this is a Ghost from Destiny.

Love this game. =P

Starting Off

Starting off I sketched out the Ghost, then I covered the canvas around the ghost in black acrylic paint.

Light

To make the Ghost glow I wanted to surround it in purple light so I used a light purple and dark purple acrylic paint and placed it around the ghost.. I kept it thick and brighter near the ghost and let it fan out and lighten up away from the ghost. I used a flat brush and a fan brush to do this.

Detail and Ghost Color

So I also added a few purple grid lines in the purple light because normally the Ghost has a faded grid around it.

Then I went ahead and started the coloring of the Ghost, Using a few different colors of gray to fill in most of the Ghost. You just have to keep in mind where your light is coming from because that will tell you where the light gray vs the dark gray will go. Shadowing is key.

I also used black for any details like lines, cuts, scuffs, ect.

Then getting a yellow/orange I added the that to the end pieces that you can see on it.

Last Steps!

Using more purple and some blue I added the middle light section to him.. and that's it. woohoo!
