I am an 8th-grade student from St. Margaret's Episcopal School,CA.

To create a flying toy with the appearance of Doraemon, utilizing a rubber band as the power source. Incorporating the principles of unmanned helicopters' wings and utilizing 3D printing technology to produce the model framework, aiming to achieve short-distance flight.

Concept Design and Planning Phase:

·      Determine the dimensions, design, and visual appearance of the flying toy, drawing inspiration from Doraemon for the concept design.

·      Devise a rubber band propulsion mechanism, considering how to harness and release energy from the rubber band.

·      Understand the principles behind the wings of unmanned helicopters and contemplate their application in the toy's design.

Fusion360 Modeling and Design Phase:

·      Utilize Fusion 360 software to create the model framework of the flying toy, encompassing wings and flight control components.

·      Account for rubber band placement and release mechanism in the model's detailed design.

·      Ensure the model's printability, refining and optimizing the design as necessary.

3D Printing Model Framework

·      Import the Fusion 360 design into the 3D printer software, perform slicing, and configure print parameters.

·      Employ a 3D printer to fabricate the model's framework components, including wings and supporting structures.

·      Guarantee print quality and accuracy, conducting post-processing if needed, such as trimming and sanding.

Assembly and Debugging

·      Assemble the 3D printed model framework and rubber band power system.

·      Design and integrate a rubber band storage and release mechanism within the model framework, ensuring adequate energy storage.

·      Determine the rubber band's length, material, and its connection with other components of the flying toy.

·      Conduct testing, adjusting rubber band tension and release mechanism to ensure stable flight.

·      Conduct initial flight tests, observe flight performance, and make adjustments and optimizations as necessary.

Flight Performance Testing

·      Perform flight performance tests in an open area or indoors, recording flight distance, altitude, stability, and related data.

·      Analyze flight data and make further adjustments and improvements to the design if required.

·      Consider capturing the creation process and the final product through photos or videos to showcase the making and flight performance.

Following these steps, you will be able to create a distinctive Doraemon-themed flying toy that incorporates the principles of unmanned helicopter wings and a rubber band power system, achieving short-distance flight. Remember to maintain creativity and patience throughout the process and enjoy the journey of creation!
