First collect your piece of driftwood. Try to get a solid heavy piece without any bugs.

Collect Your Tools

Bits were purchased at Home Depot and Harbor Freight. I inherited the Dremel tool.

Start hogging out the outline with your big bit

Sketch the Outlines

Find the center of your face and sketch the nose, beard and eyebrows since they will stick out the furthest

Some call it blocking out, but I call it Hoggin'. Mmm Hmm

I used the edge if my big bit to make lines in the beard and eyebrows

I continue working the piece until I feel good about where it's going. It gets frustrating sometimes.

Finer Bit for Details

Switch your bit to a finer one and lightly refine the shapes. Nose and eyes are the most challenging to me.

Even Finer Bit

Keep working down the bit size as you progress to finish.

I like to have my faces giving a little side eye instead of straight ahead.
