Drilling Wooden Balls
Getting Ready to Drill the Ball
Clamp your wooden ball in a clamp that has rubber or plastic pads so that the ball will not spin or turn while drilling. You can hold this clamp while drilling if you are careful. Decide how deep you need your hole and set your drill press depth gauge or just eye ball it if you can.
Drill Your Hole
Place wooden ball in the recess hole already drilled and carefully drill your hole. Placing the ball in the recess will make sure you are drilling the center of the ball.
Completed Hole
After you have drilled your hole and removed the clamp it should look like this. Install the ball in the location that you have prepared it for.
Project Finished
I needed some new feet on my shop stool because it was cutting holes in my rubber mat. I drilled and installed four new balls on my stool and now it does not punch holes in my mat. I hope the "Instructable" will help you in similar situations. I know there are many other ways of doing this project but this is what I came up with this time and it was quick and easy.
