Screen Shot 2016-12-03 at 4.32.02 PM.png

The person is an accessory to the drone display. The person corresponds to the house. The combination of the person and house allow for the drone demonstration to be complete.

For the designing you will want to use 123D Design.

Approximate Time to Complete: 5-10 minutes

Open 123D Design to a new project. We will begin with the legs of the person. Start off, by going up to the tool bar and selecting the cylinder from the Primitives category. Lay the cylinder on the grid and then click the cylinder so the tool bar on the bottom of the page pops up. Select the smart scale option and smart scale the cylinder to 0.3mm by 0.3 mm by 1.4mm. The first leg is now complete. For the second, simply copy and paste the first leg. Therefore, giving you an identical leg. Use the move tool to drag the second leg over to the right of the first leg. Both legs are now complete.

The Hips

For the hips, go back to the top tool bar and pick the primitives category again. Now, select the rectangle shape. Lay the rectangle on the grid. Then, click the rectangle and go to the tool bar on the bottom of the page. Select the Smart scale option again. Scale the rectangle to 0.5mm by 1.4mm by 0.2mm. Then use the move tool to move the rectangle on top of the two legs.

Once you are satisfied with where the rectangle lays upon the legs, you will go to the top tool bar and select the grouping button. Select all three of the shapes and hit group. Now they are one complete object.

Filleting the Hip

Now that the rectangle is in place, you want to fillet the top edges of the rectangle. To do so, you go to the top tool bar and click the fillet button. Then, select all four of the top edges of the rectangle and set the fillet radius to 0.05.

The Body

For the body, go back to the top tool bar and go under the primitives again. Select the cylinder and put it on the grid. Then go to the bottom tool bar and go to the smart radius again. Follow the dimensions 0.5mm by 0.5mm by 1.7mm.

Then, go back to the top tool bar and click on the snap button. Click one end of the cylinder and then click the top of the rectangle. The cylinder will then attach and center itself on the rectangle.

The Head

For the head, go to the top tool bar and go to the primitives and select the sphere. Place the sphere on the grid and go to the bottom tool bar. In the bottom tool bar, select the smart scale button and follow the dimensions 1mm by 1mm by 1mm. Then use the move tool to place the head to the top of the body. Once placed in a spot that looks correct, go back to the grouping tool and elect all the objects and group them together.

The Arms Pt1

For the first arm, you will go back to the top tool bar and select two cylinders and lay them on the grid. One cylinder you will use the smart scale to scale it to the dimensions 0.2mm by 0.8mm by 0.2mm and the second cylinder you will use the smart scale to scale it the dimensions 0.2mm by 0.2mm by 0.7mm.

The Arms Pt.2

Now that you have the pieces for the first arm, you will use the move tool to place the arm pieces, as done in the picture. Once you have the two arm pieces together, use the grouping tool to group them together.

Then, for the second arm. Copy and paste the first arm and drag it over to the other side of the body. Rotate the arm and fit it to the body.

Group the Person

Now that all the pieces of the person are together, use the grouping tool to select all the components of the person and group them all together. Therefore, you will have one complete figure and will be able to print the person as a whole. Your 123D Design person is now complete.
