Duct Tape and Magazine Woven Wallet
In honor of Earth Day, I made this wallet from duct tape and an old magazine. It's actually easier than a normal duct tape wallet in my opinion and only takes about 45 minutes. Also it's really cute!
Materials
All you need is a roll of duct tape and a magazine of your choice. I think this looks much better if you can find a magazine with an ad that is mostly one color. Also, for the short pieces of paper I recommend using the back of a magazine because it's a little thicker and hold up much better than than the pages inside the magazine.
Cutting the Strips
Take 2 pages from a magazine and cut the pages into strips that are about 1/4 inch wide. Separate the different pages into piles so that one pile is from one page and the other pile is from the other page.
Assembling the Wallet
Take the strips that you have just cut from 1 pile and lay the magazine pieces halfway down the duct tape strip. Cut the magazine strips about 4 inches tall and repeat this step until you have covered 1 side. Repeat step for the other side. Then, take a piece of duct tape as long as the wallet and cut it in half the long way. Take 1 of the duct tape strips and put it on the end of the magazine strips (As shown in the second picture). Repeat step with other duct tape strip.
Weaving
Take your second pile of magazine strips and weave them in an out of the short magazine strips. You know you did it right if it makes a checker pattern at the end. Make sure that if one strip starts by going under the next strip should start by going over.
Finishing
Take 1 more piece of duct tape that is as long as the short side of your wallet. Cut it in half longways and wrap around the edge.
