Easy Autochanging RGB Dome Lamp
This is a really easy to do hack on those push to turn on dome lamps. You can get them for like a dolor at the dolor store. Then get your RGB COLOR-CHANGING LED from http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/LED-158/RGB-COLOR-CHANGING-LED/1.html 10 for $7. Gather Materials
What you'le need:
- Dome Lamp
- RGB COLOR-CHANGING LED
- Small screwdriver
- Soldering Iron and Solder
- Tape
- AA Batteries
Take It Apart 1
Remove the batteries
Take It Apart 2
Remove four screws.
Take It Apart 3
Turn it over and set it on the counter.
Remove the plastic ring (This is the one with the screw hols in it. Make sure you line it up correctly during reconstruction.)

Take It Apart 4
Remove the dome
Take It Apart 5
Remove cardboard ring. (You might need to put some take on the cardboard ring to get it to stay in place when reconstructing the dome.)
Take It Apart 6
Peel back the paper exposing the bulb.
Take It Apart 7
Remove the bulb with a soldering iron.
Hack It
Now solder in your RGB COLOR-CHANGING LED with the correct polarity. You may also want to tape down the LED's leads and bend them to fit into the hole where the bulb used to be. It's a pretty bright LED and it will shine right through so bright if its not set in far enough that you won't get the full color change effect. You'll see circles of the Red, Green, and Blue.
Put It Back Together and Throw a Party.
Now you may need to go back through the steps to be able to remember what to do.
