Easy Crochet Hooded Scarf

You will never have to worry about your hat flying off in a breezy winter again, or wasting time trying to find your missing winter hat, (that you are sure that you put it with your scarf last winter!) with this 2 in 1! This is super easy to make, as it comes together fast!

What You Will Need

A size H or 5.00mm Hook

And two different colored yarn A & B

Hood

With A, ch 24 loosely.

Row 1 (right side) Working in back bar of chs, dc in 5th ch from hook (skipped chs count as first dc), dc in next 18 chs, 5 dc in last ch (place marker in 3rd dc of 5dc just made); working in free loops on opposite side of chs, dc in next 20 chs - 45 dc.

Row 2 Ch 1, turn; sc in first dc; *ch 1, sk next dc, sc in next dc*; repeat from * to * across to marked st, ch 1, sk next dc, (sc, ch 1, sc) in center dc (remove st marker and place in ch-1 sp just made); repeat from * to * across, working last sc in top of turning ch - 24 sc and 23 ch-1 sps.

Row 3 ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughtout), turn; sk first dc, dc in each ch-1 sp and in each sp across, working 3 dc in marked center ch-1 sp (remove st marker and place in 2nd dc of 3 dc group made) - 49 dc.

Rows 4 - 9 Repeat Rows 2 and 3, 3 more times - 2 more sts in each row than in previous row. At end of row 9 - 61 dc. Remove st marker.

Row 10 Ch 1, turn; sc in first dc; *ch 1, sk next dc, sc in next dc; repeat from * across - 31 sc and 30 ch-1 sps.

Row 11 Ch 3, turn; sk first sc, dc in each ch-1 sp and in each sc across - 61 dc.

Rows 12-17 Repeat Rows 10 and 11, 3 more times.

Bottom Edging

Do not turn. Working across edge of rows, ch 1, sc in top of last dc made, sc around post of same dc, [sc in edge of next sc row, sc in top of next dc, sc around post of same dc] 8 times, sc in foundation ch (place marker in this sc), [*sc in beginning ch-3 sp on next dc row, sc in 3rd ch of same ch-3 sp*, sc in edge of next sc row] 8 times; repeat from * to * once - 53 sc. Fasten off.

Front Edging

With right side facing, join B with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch-3 on Row 17, working across Row 17, ch 1, (1 sc, ch 2) in each st around. Fasten off. Set hood aside.

Scarf


With a, ch 168 loosely.

Row 1 (right side) Working in back bar of chs, dc in 5th ch from hook (skipped chs count as first dc); dc in each remaining ch across - 165 dc.

Row 2 Ch 1, turn; sc in first dc; *ch 1, sk next dc, sc in next dc; repeat from * across, working last sc in top of turning ch - 83 sc and 82 ch-1 sps.

Row 3 Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn; sk first sc, dc in each ch-1 sp and in each sc across - 165 dc.

Rows 4 - 21 Repeat Rows 2 and 3, 9 more times. At end of Row 21, fasten off.

Border

Round 1: With right side facing and the piece upside down, join B with a sl st in free loops of the foundation ch at the corner of the scarf. Ch 1, (1 sc, ch 2,) in each ch. All the way around. When you get to a corner do 3 sc in the same st. Fasten off. Weave in the ends.

Finishing - Assembly

With right side of hood and scarf facing, pin center st of scarf to marked center st on bottom edge of hood. Without stretching bottom edge of hood or edge of scarf and with scarf edge slightly overlapping bottom edge edge of hood , pin bottom edge of hood to edge of scarf. With a length of A, sew hood to scarf using a running st through foundation chs on scarf and sc on bottom edging of hood. Secure ends. Weave in ends.
