Easy Feta Cheese and Tomatoes on the Grill
This is a delicious and easy recipe to make on the barbecue with feta cheese and tomatoes.
Actually, those are almost the only things you need to make it, so it’s easy to shop for the ingredients too!
I learnt how to make this when I lived in Heidelberg, Germany years ago. My German friends just loved to light up the barbecue as soon as the weather got warm enough (that meant when I didn’t have to wear a winter jacket to go outside), and this was something that they almost always made.
I love it as it takes about 10 minutes to make and tastes great, especially when tomatoes are in season.
Supplies
- Aluminium foil
- Tomatoes
150 g Feta Cheese 5.2 oz/1 slab
Olive oil
Oregano or thyme
Salt and pepper (to taste)
- a barbecue or oven
Prepare the Tomatoes
Cut the tomatoes into thick slices.
Actually that's all you have to do to the tomatoes. :)
Prepare the Package
- Tear off a sheet of aluminium foil big enough to wrap the feta slice and tomatoes in.
- Place a slice of feta on the foil.
- Place slices of tomatoes on the feta.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper, and the herb of your choice.
- Drizzle with olive oil.
Close the Foil
Close the foil to seal in the ingredients. I find it easiest to scrunch it at the top as is shown in the above photo.
Grill Time!
Grill on the bbq (or bake in a hot oven) for approximately 5 minutes.
The feta should become very soft. Depending on the thickness of the slab, it may take a little longer.
Eat Immediately
Eat immediately with crusty bread!
