Easy Hanging Aqarium/Terrerium

I have always wanted to have hanging Marimos in my room, so I decided to make my own hanging aquarium. It was easy and fun! If you want to make your own you will need...

-One Mason Jar

-A pair of scissors

-Some yarn

It will take you about 15 minutes.

You will need 3 pieces of yarn, each being about 8x as long as you want your aquarium to be tall. When those pieces are cut, you should arrange each in the position shown in the photo, where one side has 3 loops and the other has 2.

Take one of your 3 pieces of string (keeping them in the configuration that was made in the 2nd step) and tie a knot on the side with 3 loops about 1 inch from the tip. Then separate the 3 groups of string as shown in the photo.

Repeat this for the other 2 pieces.

Braid each piece of string and tie a knot about 1 inch from the bottom, or when one or your strands is almost gone.

It is ok if the different pieces are not all the same length, this will be addressed later on.

Arrange your 3 braids around the Mason Jar with the lid off. The side of each braid with only 2 loops should be placed over the lip, with the knot being placed just under your fingers. They should be evenly spaced around the jar.

It is important that you can hold them down with one hand because you will need the other hand in the next step.

Take the plate out of the Mason Jar lid and tightly screw the lid on over the yarn. It may take a couple of tries to get the lid on evenly.

Because my cords were different lengths, I had to tie some knots to level them out. I tied the second-longest cord around the shortest cord, and then the longest cord around them both. Make sure the tops of the cord are what you are leveling, not the knots.

After your cords are leveled, cut the extra yarn that was sticking out of the lid. This makes the aquarium look nicer, and it makes it easier to put your plants inside.

I put my Marimo Bert in this aquarium, but you can put any plant you want. Then, I hung it by pulling the 9 loops on the end over a hook on my ceiling.
