Easy Pajama Pants

This is an easy step by step instruction for making comfortable pajama pants from any fabric you like.

Choose Your Fabric

Once you've chosen your fabric, lay it out on a flat surface.

Pin Your Pattern

Lay your pattern on top of your fabric and pin them together.

Cut Out Your Pattern

Carefully cut along the pattern piece paying attention to the notches.

More Pinning

Pin right sides together matching notches.

Sew Seams Together

Carefully sew the seams together along the edges and remove pins as you go.

Finish Seams

Trim and finish seams with a zig-zag stitch.

Press Hem

With a steam iron, press up a quarter of an inch under and then an additional 3/4 inch under for pant leg hem. 

Sew Hem

With a straight stitch, sew the hem.

Elastic Casing

With iron, press under 1/4 of an inch and an additional 3/4 of an inch to make casing for elastic on waistline. Make sure to leave one inch open on the back seam in order to feed the elastic through.

Add Elastic

Thread the elastic through the casing with a safety pin.

Secure Elastic

With a zig-zag stitch, secure elastic together. Then finish seam on waistline. 

Admire Work
