Easy-to-Use Glasses Wiper

Have you ever wondered if there was an easier or more efficient way to clean your glasses?

It is sometimes a hassle to wipe the lenses of glasses when they become dirty or dusty. Sometimes, people use the sleeves of their shirts to clean their glasses, but this might make it even dirtier. Additionally, the lens of your glasses may become dirtier if you hold it while you are cleaning the other lens.

That's why this invention, the Easy-to-Use Glasses Wiper is effective. It is an efficient way to wipe both lenses at the same time with a simple press. This works for most sizes and for any type of glasses, whether it's reading glasses or sunglasses.

The materials you will need are:

• 9 9-in. wooden chopsticks (there may/may not be leftovers, depending on how you will cut them)
• 4 thin wood nails
• power drill
• 4 thick sponge squares
• all-purpose glue/wood glue (I used all-purpose glue, but wood glue would probably work better/be stronger)
• knife/blade (to cut wood)
• sandpaper
• duct tape
• scissors
• rubber bands

Using your knife/blade, cut the chopsticks into:

• 4 6-in. pieces
• 8 3-in. pieces
• 2 2-in. pieces
• 4 0.75-in. pieces

You can adjust the sizes depending on if you want to use the glasses-wiper for a specific-sized glasses.

After cutting the chopsticks, use the sandpaper to smooth out the ends of each piece.

*NOTE: The next 2 steps are optional, if you want the wipers to have a bit of mobility.

Use a power drill to drill a thin hole through each of the 8 3-in. pieces. The width of the hole can vary, depending on the nails you have available. Drill a hole in each piece near the top (where the dots are marked in the picture).

Using the picture shown as a reference, insert the wood nails into the holes that you drilled in each of the 8 3-in. pieces. After this, place a drop of glue on each of the ends of the nails (and let it dry) to keep the chopsticks from sliding off the nails.

Glue the end of the chopstick pieces (with the nails) onto one of the 6-inch pieces. Repeat on the other end and repeat with another 2 nail pieces and a 6-inch piece. After this, attach sponges to the end of the pieces hanging off of the chopsticks with nails. *I tried to use glue, but the sponge kept absorbing the glue, so it didn't stick to the chopstick. Therefore, I ended up sewing thread through the sponge and tied it around the chopstick.

Now, assemble and glue the larger pieces together as shown in the picture. (Using multiple layers of glue will make the bonds between the chopsticks stronger.)

*Optional: Glue each of the 4 0.75-inch pieces onto each corner of the structure (in the picture).. You can do this if you want the glasses-wiper to stand up like a table.

Using duct tape, attach the two large structures to the previous structure (that looks like a table) so that everything is upright.

You can use the glue to attach the large pieces together, but it was more convenient for me to use duct tape, which worked fine and still kept the pieces stable.

Tie rubber bands as shown in the picture. I ended up tying 2 chopsticks with rubber bands on each side of the sponges so that they can function as a support for the sponges.

This is what my invention resulted in. To use it, just place your glasses between the sponges, press it down, press the sponges in towards the glasses, then pull your glasses out to wipe them.

I understand that there are many things I need to improve on, such as making the process less complicated and taking out unnecessary steps.

If you decide to make this, you can simplify some parts that you think are not necessary to make the building process faster and easier for you.
