More than 430 million tons of plastic are produced worldwide, and only 9% of it is recycled. Plastics take approximately 100 to 1,000 years to decompose, and many of these remain in the environment for decades or centuries, seriously harming it. Unrecycled plastic pollutes the soil, water, and air. This information is truly sad.

In our homes, we consume many products that come in plastic containers, such as soft drinks, yogurt, toiletries, medications, and more.

In this instructable, I wanted to make a robot friend made entirely from recycled plastics. I was truly amazed to see how a robot was created using lids and some containers. It's really fun to see how you can create countless different robot friends.

This is a great idea for creating reused toys.

As a first step, select plastic containers and lids of different shapes that you have at home from products you've already consumed. I chose medicine containers I've already finished, lids from my baby's baby food, shampoo lids, deodorant containers, and others.

When you've selected them, disinfect, wash, and dry them.

Note: Try to select them by color and separate them. I chose white and blue plastics so I don't have to use paint and the robot will look more visually harmonious.

1.I chose a foot powder container to form the robot's torso.

2. For the head, I chose a blue shampoo cap. I wanted to simulate a helmet, so this cap was perfect for what I wanted to achieve.

3. One of the interesting things about this project is that it encourages creativity, since many ideas will come to mind at each step of building the robot.

Robot toys usually come with cannons, lasers, and different shapes; I was inspired by the Autobots.

For this, I chose two caps: a blue one from a water bottle and a silver one from a deodorant bottle, to create a contrast and create a kind of missile.

4. I added caps and different shapes, alternating colors. This cap is from a fruit smoothie my baby ate.

5. To make a laser sight, use a blue lid from a laundry soap dispenser.

6. Use a deodorant container to make the cannon.

Continue adding caps according to the design you created.

In this step I used a cold silicone cap, which has an applicator with an ideal shape for the robot's laser.

To begin forming the robot's legs, use two drinking water bottle caps.

For the robot's thighs, I used two pill jars.

Finally, I used two white soap caps to make the robot's feet. My idea is for it to be able to stand up and move, so I can put the robot on a shelf when not playing with it.

Using a soldering iron or hot nail, cut holes in the lids, as you have them arranged, where the wire will pass through to join them together.

IMG_20250512_173810_125.jpg

I joined all the lids with copper wire, I passed the wire joining the arms, passing through the torso and ending at the feet so that tension is generated and the lids do not fall off and the children can play without any problem with their robot friend and can imagine thousands of missions.

Add all the parts one by one and join them with the copper wire so that they are well secured and the robot's legs are articulated.

Using pliers, tie small knots at the ends of the wire to tighten and seal the ends.

Add the finishing touches and glue them with a silicone gun.

This is an invitation for you to create your robot friends with recyclable materials and thus be able to help the planet reduce pollution. I love toys, but what if we create some with these recyclable materials and be able to make many children happy in an ecological way and creatively incentivize them to create countless robot friends?
