My kid loves to play ukulele, and one day I've got an idea to make it electric.

Since strings are non-metal - piezo pickups should be used. I've found all necessary hardware on Aliexpress.

Supplies

  1. Ukulele
  2. Double piezo pickup ($4.21 link)
  3. Volume / Tone control knob x2 ($1.45 link)
  4. Screwdriver
  5. 8 and 6 mm wood drills
  6. Masking tape
  7. Fishing cargo x1
  8. Sewing thread

Drill Holes

  1. Decide where to place elements, so they will not distract you.
  2. Cover places where you are going to make holes (to secure wood and paint cover)
  3. Drill hole for audio jack
  4. Place control knobs and mark safe distance
  5. Drill volume / tone holes

Inject Connector and Control Elements

  1. Divide and fix strings with masking tape to make main hole accessible
  2. Take sewing thread and attach fishing cargo to it
  3. Insert thread cargo into the drilled hole and connect thread to the audio jack / control elements
  4. Extract connectors and fix them
  5. Mount control knobs

Stick Piezo Pickups

  1. Take off 3m tape cover
  2. Stick 1 piezo to the top inner side
  3. Stick 2 piezo on the bottom inner side

Electric ukulele test

As result I've got fully functional electric ukulele.

Tested with Rocksmith real tone cable and Guitar Rig 6 (via asio4all)
