first thing is make a design a electronic circuit that accomplish the task first thing is done by me is find circuits that creat need duty cycle and delay timer . then need to find a way to producing high current to the out put . lastly find a way to safe way to prevent revers polarity and over current situations
i used the irf540n to provide sufficient current to EFI to operate correctly it use as a switch and provide plenty of current to activate 12V fuel injector as duty cycle can go
using irf9540 to prevent revers polarity is great way to doing it. it provide good protection and efficiency if we think about single diode or stocky diode protection . i accept that is not fully tune to full efficacy but i think in a operation it wont matter . however as overcurrent protection i use fast blowing fuse .it easy to use and quickly repairable . and also two pole switch used to power on the device .because if we use on 12V car battery it may be sit on vehicle body, it may be earth or short circuit with battery. we have to use every countermeasure for safety of personal who use the tool
i use easyEDA to design the PCB and use old chemical etching technique to make a PCB. i had hard time doing it because use lower grade copper board fist you have to make print and transfer carbon to PCB and etching it . be care full to avoid etching more than want to. if not check the copper board it will be beyond repair
