Engineering Clock Project (Analog Clock With Arduino)
I made an analog clock with an Arduino and two servos that work as the hour hand and minute hand because of a class project I have for an engineering class.
Supplies
I used an Arduino, an RTC chip, 2 servos, wires, a breadboard, cardboard, a hot glue gun, and 3D printing.
3D Printing Design
First I 3D printed the design of my clock which is a Sun. I designed it in Tinkercad and then printed it, while it was printing I started wiring.
Wiring
First I put wires on the RTC chip and on the servos. Then I connected them to the Arduino but I had to get a breadboard to connect all the wires correctly. I used Tinker Cad to test it out and help me with the wiring before I actually started. I had to make some adjustments to the wires for the code to work successfully.
Coding
I got the code from a website provided by my teacher. I plugged the Arduino into my computer and then uploaded the code to the app. I tested it out but there were errors in the code that had to be fixed. I made sure the code was set without any errors because then it wouldn't work.
Building the Clock
After the coding and wiring, I drilled 2 holes in the 3D print for the servo handles to fit in. Then I drew the lines indicating the time. I put together a short cardboard cylinder to put the Arduino and breadboard in, I also made a hole in the cardboard to be able to plug the Arduino into my computer.
Putting Everything Together
After I got everything how I wanted I started hot-gluing everything in place so it would stay in place. Then I tested it again to make sure it worked.
