Exhaust Ventilation for a Cat Toilet

Hi! I think that every cat owner knows that no matter how good the cat litter you use is, still some odor always remains.

So I came up with a simple idea: equip my cats' litter box with exhaust ventilation. Luckily, the utility room where the toilet is located has a ventilation opening in the wall so all the smell can be removed easily.

-       Exhaust fan

-       1.5 meters of a flexible air duct

-       Electrical cable and a plug for the mains socket

-       Zip ties

The implementation is as simple as the idea itself.

I cut a hole in the toilet lid and secured the fan in it with zip ties. You may want to put a layer of soft foam plastic between the fan and the cover to prevent vibrations and noise.

I then drilled a hole for the electrical cable in the back of the cover and connected the cable to the fan using a terminal that I glued inside the cover. Be sure to provide some insulation to the terminal! After it I fixed the fan cover on the fan.

Then I secured the flexible duct on the outlet pipe of the fan with zip ties.

I connected a plastic flange purchased together with the fan to the other end of the duct and secured it in the ventilation opening of the wall. Later (sorry, no photo) I covered it with a piece of mosquito net to prevent flies attracted by the smell from getting into the duct.
