F-15 Paper Model

As you all might know, origami is a very good method of time pass as well as enjoyment. It is a way of calming the mind, due to which it is recommended to people suffering from depression.

I have made an F-15 fighter jet model using paper and here I will show you how to make it. Hope you enjoy my instructable and enjoy making the paper jet.

For making the F-15 paper model, all you need is a sheet of paper of the size (8.5 x 11)inches and a pair of scissors.

It is recommended that you use a scale to mark the creases as the creases will be very important as we progress. Also, make the foldings you do during the process as accurate as possible.

I will be explaining each major folding as separate steps to avoid confusion.

So get a sheet of paper of the mentioned size, a pair of scissors and let's dive into the folding and cutting.

First, take the sheet of paper and fold it into half as shown in the above image.

Take any one half of the folded paper and fold a triangle until the bottom edge exactly touches the bottom edge of the middle crease you made in the starting. Then do the same to the other half of the folded sheet. The end result should be similar to the last image above.

Now unfold the folded paper. Keeping the folded triangles facing you, take the upper triangle and bring it to the lower edge by folding it. Ensure that the end of the triangles is coinciding with the lower edge of the paper. The end result should be similar to the last image above.

Now fold the big triangle upwards again until the lower edge of the triangles coincides with the lower edge of the paper you're folding. The end result should be similar to the last image above.

Unfold the folding you just made. Now fold any one of the halves such that the left edge folding you make coincides with the crease you made in the middle of the paper. Then do the same on the other half too. The end result should be similar to the last image above.

Then unfold the folding you just did on both sides by ensuring that there is a visible crease marked. Now do step four once more on this sheet of paper. You can use the last two images above for reference. Your end result should be similar to the last image above.

Now fold the right side of this sheet of paper along the crease you made in step five. While folding keep your finger inside the small pocket like shown in the first image above. Then fold the triangle that forms by ensuring that the left edge of the triangle is aligned to the crease you made in the middle of the sheet of paper. Then fold the triangle flat. Do the same on the other side too. The end result should be similar to the last image above.

Now half unfold the right flap of this paper and take out the small triangle inside like shown in the first two images. Then take the triangle out and make it flat. Then fold the triangle that you have taken out from inside, towards the right side as shown in the last image above. Then do the same on the other side. The end result should be similar to the last image above.

Now fold half of the triangle on the right side along the crease in the middle of the triangle and fold it such that the left edge of the folded triangle is perfectly aligned to the crease in the middle of the whole paper. Do the same on the left side too. The end result should be similar to the last image above.

Now take the triangle on the right in the bottom portion of the structure as shown in the first image above and fold it such that the top corner touches the bottom edge of the triangle on the top, and that the right side of the triangle you're folding correctly matches to the right edge of the whole paper. Do the same on the other side too. The end result should be similar to the last image above.

Now take the right corner of the right triangle in the top part of the plane and fold it such that that the left edge of the folded triangle exactly touches the crease you made in the middle of the whole paper. Do the same on the other side. The end result should be similar to the last image above.

Now fold the whole plane along the crease in the middle. Then it will look like the first image above. Now take a pair of scissors and cut an inch long diagonal line about one inch away from the end of the plane as shown in the third image above. Then cut a line such that a triangle is cut off the plane from each wing as shown in the last image above.

Now take a ruler (if needed), and estimate a line from the point in the front to a point in the back, along which you'll fold the wing. Do the same on the other side too. While folding, ensure that the innermost triangle should remain as it is. Then bring both the wings up such that they are almost parallel to the ground. The end result will be similar to the last image above.

Now you might be worrying about how to tighten the structure of the plane. For this purpose, take the small triangle facing to the inside portion of the plane in the upper middle part of the plane and bring it out as shown in the second image above. Now push the other triangle towards the triangle you pulled out, so that a small pocket can be seen. Take the triangle you pulled out and put it inside this pocket. Now your plane will remain as it is. The end result should be similar to the last image above.

However, if you want to tighten the whole plane very well, you can use a small amount of glue.

Take the back portion of both the wings and lift the portion behind the cut that you made in step twelve such that it is perpendicular to the wings. This is done to give the plane a better flying capacity. It is done in many paper planes to make them fly smoother.

And now your paper F-15 jet is ready!
