Fabric Accented Wooden Spoon
I recently bought some wooden spoons for cooking. They were really boring and I wanted to brighten them up a bit so I had a great idea to accent them with a pop of fabric color.
Supplies
Here is what you will need to accent your wooden spoons
Fabric
Modge Podge
Scissors
Brushes
Cut Strips of Fabric
Start by cutting the strips of fabric you want to put on your spoon.
I used strips that were about 3" long. I wanted enough to wrap completely around the handle but not pop up too much from the spoon.
Width of the fabric piece can vary depending on how long you want the fabric to be once its wrapped around the spoon. My fabric varied from 1/2" to 2"
Soak Fabric in Modge Podge
Next I took my fabric pieces and dunked them in modge podge. Once they were completely soaked i set them on wax paper.
This is probably the messiest option to get your fabric modge podged. Another option is to brush the modge podge onto the fabric while it sits on wax paper.
Wrap Spoon
After the fabric pieces are ready to go I wrapped them around the handle of the spoon.
Start by brushing a light coating of modge podge on the spoon handle.
Then carefully wrap the fabric around the handle.
Let dry
Dry and Use
Wait until the spoon is completely dry and then you can use your great new spoon!
Through my uses I have been impressed with how this spoon has held up. I was a little worried at first that the fabric would just peel off but using as much modge podge as I did, the fabric stayed on well.
I would not recommend washing this in the dishwasher through.
