Fabric Simple Pumpkin

DSCN7464.JPG

This is a simple way to make a fabric pumpkin from scraps!

Materials

DSCN7436.JPG
  • scraps of fabric (possible orange.... I used orange-brown fabric)
  • sewing thread
  • sewing machine (or you can do it by hand)
  • needle
  • stuffing
  • mor or less 50 cm of a thick green yarn (wool is ok)
  • pencil or chalk
  • crochet

Sew

If you are using strips of fabric as I did, you have to sew them together to a have a rectangle big enough for the next step.

Circle

Fold the rectagle in two, put something circular on it and draw the circle on the fabric with a pencil or chalk.

Sew

Sew the circle on the two layers. This can be difficult at first, but when you do it some times it will be simpler.

Leave a little opening. Reverse it.

Stuff

Stuff the circles. I've used scraps of cotton and wool from three sweaters I've previously done.

Sew the opening. Maybe you can do it by sewing machine, I've done it by hand.

Thread a tapestry needle with thick green yarn. Pass it from the centre to the border of the pumpkin from 6 to 8 times, as you like and in base of the dimension of the pumpkin. Pull it a lot, as I done (look at the photos) to "depress" the stuffed circle.

Crochet

Crochet the remaining tail of the green yarn, doing loops and tendrils.

Done!

It's done! Use it to decore, or let you cat attack it :D
