Fancy Ring Organizer

My girlfriend had a ring-related issue: her ring storage system was not only inefficient but also super lame (see Fig. 2)... No és bueno!

In this instructable I'll show you how I solved this critical, first-world problem. :P

To build this ring organizer you'll need:

• 2x 150x150x10mm MDF boards
• 9x 40mm sections of 15mm dowel
• Felt
• Contact glue
• Hot glue
• Nail gun
• 20mm nails
• 15mm forstner bit

Also, we all know the world is a dangerous place, specially around table saws, nail guns, etc., so please take proper safety measures.

The first step is to transfer the template in Fig.1 to the 2 MDF boards.

Use contact glue to glue the felt onto one of the boards (Fig. 2).

Drill 15mm holes on the second one as shown in Fig. 3. This board will be used as a template for the dowels in the next step.

WARNING: Try not to run a nail onto a finger!

Insert the corner dowels onto the template created on the previous step.

Align the template and the felt boards using two squares and nail the 4 dowels. Use the transferred pattern on the felt board to know where to shoot the nails.

In order to minimize the chance of not hitting the dowel and to improve the sturdiness of the bonding, you should drive 4 nails evenly spaced around each dowel, each of which should angled towards the center.

Use contact glue to fix the felt on the bottom.

Trim the bottom felt to size and cut the corners of the top felt.

Use hot glue to hold the "flaps" it in place. You should try to add enough glue to hold them firmly in place, but not enough that it comes out when you bend and press the felt.

Trim as you go along using a pair of scissors or, ideally, a guillotine.

Ring-related problem: Resolved!
