Faux Cupcakes for Baby's 1st Birthday
Let's make faux cupcakes for my baby's 1st birthday! You can use these cupcakes to decorate any party.
Supplies
knit fabric (I used an old sweater), thread, needle, scissors, toy stuffing, hot glue, cupcake paper liners, embellishments (pearls, pompoms, strings, lace, etc.), cardboard
Making the Faux Cupcakes
Take your knit fabric (or that old sweater) and cut out a circle. I cut circles about 14-15 cm in diameter. Cut as many as you need for the end project. In my case, I cut 28 circles.
Using needle and thread stitch around the circle outline. Then tighten the thread a little and put the toy stuffing inside the circle. Tighten the thread very tightly, closing the circle and forming a ball. Now stitch criss-cross to close the opening for sure.
Put some hot glue drops (in the picture I drew them in green) on the bottom of the ball and then put in inside the paper cupcake liner.
Voila, you have made one cupcake! Repeat this process to make all your cupcakes.
Embellish the Cupcakes
Now let your creativity shine and embellish the cupcakes. I used all sorts of pearls, pompoms, strings, and other knick-knacks from my crafts drawer. There are no rules here, you can do whatever your heart desires.
Cut the Shape Base
Cut the base out of cardboard. As I was making a number "1" shape for my baby's birthday, I ended up adding some wooden plates to make it sturdier.
In this step, you can make any shape you need, for example, a wreath or a heart.
Glue Your Cupcakes Onto the Base
Now glue your cupcakes onto the cardboard base and style your beautiful faux cupcake art.
You can add a string to the base to hang it on the wall if needed.
The great thing about this project is that you can tear the cupcakes off of the number "1" shape and make a new shape for your next party! (Though, You might need new paper cupcake liners.)
