Finger Nuts
Sometimes you want something easier to grip than a “wing-nut”, but smaller than a regular threaded knob. I made these “Finger Nuts” at the TechShop, www.techshop.ws, from ¼ in. Plexiglas using the Laser Engraver.
Finger Nuts
Laser cut equal number of discs and nut holders.
Finger Nuts
Depending on how many you are making, assemble the parts onto a ¼-20 bolt or suitable length of ¼-20 all-thread in the following order: nut, washer, disc, nut, nut holder, washer, disc, nut, nut holder, washer, as many as you care to, and finish with a washer and nut. In this view the nut holder on the right side is shown not seated on the nut, yet.

Barely tighten each nut. Use a drop of water thin Plexiglas cement at each disc/nut holder joint. The thin cement will be drawn between the disc and nut holder and weld them together. Give the cemented joints an hour or more to dry.
Finger Nuts
Take the nuts and glued-up parts off the bolt or all-thread. Place the glued discs and nut holders, with the nut recess up. on a piece of wax paper. Put a nut in each recess and place a drop or two of medium viscosity CA glue to hold the nut in place.
Finger Nuts
In use, the disc side goes toward the piece being held, so that the nut is trapped.
