Five Three Roll

Looking for a fun way to get some basketball practice in? I play basketball in my driveway for fun, and get bored doing the same things. I thought about a way to "spice it up" and founded Five Three Roll. Requiring a dice and two or more people, the game is quick to set up and easy to play.

Rules

  • Swish - 3 points
  • Rim & In - 2 points
  • Backboard & In - 1 point
  • Miss - 0 points

  • You can put the mats (places where shots take place) wherever you want, as long as it is agreed upon between the 2 players. The default just happens to be behind the 3-point line.
  • You must start on the mat at the left-most side.
  • Roll dice from the height of your hip, while standing.
  • You get 3 shots to get the exact amount of points.
  • You are not allowed to go over the amount specified by the dice.
  • The points come from whatever the ball hits first. Ex. If the ball hits the backboard and then the rim and goes in, it is worth 1 point as a backboard shot.
  • If the exact amount of points is made, move to the right one pad.
  • The first person that makes the last shot on the right-most mat wins the game.
  • If both players are on the last pad and player 1 (whoever went first) makes the number on the dice, player 2 has a chance to tie it up by rolling and making the amount asked for on the dice.
  • If player 2 manages to tie with player one, the winner is decided with a free-throw shootout. Whoever misses the free throw first is the loser. Player 1 shoots the first free throw.
  • You do not have to use all of your shots. If you make the specific number in 2 shots, then you advance.
  • If one of the players advances to the next spot, it is the other player's turn, not theirs.
  • Alternate turns no matter what.

First Player to make all five shots is the winner!

Set up spots where the shots will be taken from after agreeing upon the location.

Figure out who is going first. Player 1 will then roll the dice at the left-most mat and take his shots. If they correctly get the amount on the dice, advance to the next mat and Player 2 will roll. If Player 1 does not get the amount, then stay at the mat, as it is Player 2's turn. Alternate until a winner is determined.
